Aqvacomp is a cellulose fibre composite manufacturing company that has opened the world’s first fully integrated composite manufacturing plant in Rauma Finland. The plant is located in Metsä Fibre pulp mill and gets the never dried cellulose used in composite manufacturing directly from the pulp mill process. The Aqvacomp process cuts the carbon footprint by 40% when compared to traditional plastics reinforced with glass fibres. The composite itself cuts down the energy need in injection moulding because of lower process temperatures and improves the customer process by cutting down the cycle time 30%-60% compared to conventional plastics. Aqvacomp manufactures both composites for injection moulding as well as a pre-dispersed 60%-70% fibre masterbatch to compounders. Both bio based and biodegradable plastics are available.
