Mura and BioLogiQ join forces to develop chemical recycling in China

Press Release: Mura

Cat-HTR technology is able to recycle end-of-life plastics back to the oil they originally came from. This recycled oil can be refined into chemicals that can be used to make new plastics, creating a truly circular solution for all types of plastic

Plastic Free World Conference & Expo exhibitor Mura Technology has revealed a partnership with BioLogiQ, Inc to drive towards a circular economy for plastics by accelerating the commercialization of its breakthrough Cat-HTR (‘Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor’) chemical recycling solution in China.

“Mura and BioLogiQ have a shared vision for future in which plastics play positive economic, environmental, and social roles,” said Dr Steve Mahon, CEO of Mura. “Today, only a portion of plastic waste is mechanically recycled. The rest is landfilled, incinerated, and in the worst cases, finds its way into marine waterways and oceans. Meanwhile, we continue pumping fossil oil out of the ground to make new plastics. Our Cat-HTR plants will turn any plastic waste into synthetic oil that can be used to make new plastics, waxes and chemicals.”

“We believe the Cat-HTR technology has cracked the code of scalable, efficient and economical chemical recycling,” BioLogiQ founder and CEO, Brad LaPray, said of the partnership. “This collaboration represents an investment in our future. BioLogiQ customers will know they are supporting a bioplastics company that is as seriously committed to recycling as they are themselves. By accelerating and supporting the commercialization of chemical recycling, BioLogiQ is taking another big step in its quest to make plastics better.”

Plastic Free World Conference & Expo 2020 will take place at Cologne Messe, Germany, on Tuesday 16 June and Wednesday 17 June. To register for this highly focused, solutions-driven event, please click here. For sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, please email
